Just as unpredictable as the pandemic has been, so too has been the world of sports. When sports were on hold, athletes found creative ways to train. Throughout the pandemic, athletic trainers (ATs) were fighting at the forefront of COVID-19 and when the time came found creative ways to safely return athletes to play. As sports have resumed, innovative methods have been adopted to keep athletes safe (e.g. isolating players in a bubble).
Continuing to keep athletes safe throughout this difficult time is top of mind for everyone, including Presagia Sports! We’ve developed a COVID-19 Screening Template, worked alongside the Pac-12 Conference and Quidel to collect COVID-19 test results within our Athlete Electronic Health Record (EHR) and most recently, developed a feature to track athletes’ exposure and participation metrics.
Exposure And Participation Tracking Feature
This new feature was initially developed for the Pac-12 and will be available soon to all Presagia Sports clients as an optional add-on. Let’s take a look at what this feature does.
Users can easily capture and track athletes’ participation at events, so they know how many times and to what degree they have participated. This is especially important for coaches, who can track which athletes didn’t participate and why (e.g. if the athlete is injured). Below is the calendar that displays which days have events, along with the day’s status - no data, incomplete, completed, and completed (no events).
Users can click into specific days to create events. Information that is captured within the event includes:
- Event type (e.g. practice, competition, conditioning)
- Start time
- Exposure count, which is customizable and depends on the user’s needs (e.g. some events are captured in minutes, number of plays, percentage participated in an event etc.)
More specific event information surrounding an athlete’s exposure to injury can be recorded to help users gain insight. Details such as the event location, season, and surface (e.g. grass, turf, ice) can be noted.
Participation of athletes within a roster is another aspect that can be captured. For example, this can tell you which athletes didn’t participate because of medical reasons, along with their health status (e.g. healthy, limited).
There’s a lot of information that can be captured with this new feature, so we’ve made sure it’s as quick and easy as possible! Below is an example of a time-saving feature that allows users to copy events between days. This way, staff can create a template for a standard day (e.g. competition, practice) and reuse it for that roster.
